This Assistant Director, Cyber and Data Governance position offers a unique career opportunity to leverage your ICT experience to step into a cyber security and Data role which will offer comprehensive professional development.

You will enjoy working alongside professionals with over 18 years’ experience in the field while building your cyber security expertise and understanding of ACT Government operations.

This is a 2-year, fulltime position where you will have a direct impact on providing thriving places for the Canberra community to live and work. 

The Assistant Director, Cyber and Data Governance is a newly established role that will build greater cyber security resilience and improved data maturity across the SLA.

With a broadly outlined program of work in the cyber security and Data domains you will:

• Drive the Cyber Security Capability Uplift Project and manage related digital transformation efforts
• Develop and implement processes for effective cyber security risk management and assessments
• Enhance governance and develop automated reporting solutions for data-driven decision-making
• Lead the implementation of the Data Governance framework
• Develop and test incident response exercises for cyber crises, oversee incident reporting and implement governance and compliance recommendations
• Work with other ACT Government directorates to align cyber security and digital transformation initiatives 

The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of ICT, potentially supported by 1-2 years of experience in level 2-3 support roles. Exposure to data-related activities is advantageous as you should have a basic understanding of these domains.

You should demonstrate familiarity with common cyber security issues and frameworks such as the Essential 8 Maturity Model from ACSC or the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

A genuine interest in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), coupled with the ability to quickly grasp new information and adapt to different methods and practices is essential.

Effective communication skills, enabling confident interaction with a diverse range of internal stakeholders, is also crucial.
