We are currently looking for an Assistant Maintenance Officer & Bus Driver to join us at our Berwick Home on a Part -Time basis.
About the Role
You will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance officer with a variety of maintenance tasks and checks across the facility. As a Bus driver you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of our residents to and from the outing location.
The role will bring you into contact with our residents which will provide you the opportunity to deliver positive outcomes. You will be responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance program as set out by our organisation. You will be required to complete day to day maintenance tasks to keep the work environment safe for residents and employees.
What you will bring to the role
- Excellent interpersonal skills and empathetic communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders both verbally and in writing
- General maintenance including, but not limited to, patch & painting, minor carpentry, minor plumbing, changing of light globes, minor repairs to wheelchairs, beds and various residents equipment
- Assist in overseeing compliance relating to fire safety and accreditation
- Supervise external contractors
- Maintain the workshop, plant rooms and store rooms in a clean and tidy manner and maintain all tools & equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, promoting an engaging and inclusive Home environment
- Customer service focused and committed to achieving optimal outcomes for our residents, families and organisation
- Demonstrated organisational and time-management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Is a team player and is also able to work autonomously
- Previous experience in aged care and similar highly desirable but not essential
- Maintain strict confidentiality of residents, employees and visitors
Essential Requirements
- A current/valid drivers' license
- A good driving record
- NDIS Workers Screening Check Clearance (or willing to obtain)
- Current Police check clearance (or willing to obtain)
- Proof of Work rights in Australia
- Proof of COVID Vaccination certificate (2 doses + booster dose)
- Proof of Flu vaccination (current year)
Tasks & responsibilities
- Ensure at all times that risks are appropriately managed and in line with policies and procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes
- Maintain all documentation as required by CraigCare's policies and procedures
- Support the Home Manager in multiple duties including regulatory compliance requirements and more
- Report all incidents immediately and follow corrective action directives
- Collaborate with the National Building Services Manager and other CraigCare Maintenance Officer's to ensure processes are reviewed and improved where appropriate
- Transport care recipients and staff to scheduled appointments, shopping and various social activities
- Ensure safety and welfare of care recipients on outings
- Complete daily vehicle log and other reports as required
- Assist care recipients and staff with other duties as identified by the Home Manager from time to time
