Assistant Manager Job Outline
(Reports to General Manager)
1. Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager provides leadership and is responsible for, although not limited to:
- Be a role model and one who leads by example in all activities.
- Estimating Projects and Supervising Crews.
- OH&S and Ensuring the safety of crew members.
- Productivity of crew members
- Site Measuring.
2. Knowledge, Skills and Attitude (Overview)
Knowledge
Knows and Understands:
- Company and project safety programs, Occupational Health and Safety and environmental issues
- How to read and interpret plans and provide direction from the same.
Skills
Has the ability to:
- Organize and delegate work.
- Read and undertake take offs on drawings.
- Handle the administrative duties of the position, including completion of required documents.
- Coach and teach crew members.
- Apply good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Manage differences and diversity at the work site.
Attitude
Shows that he/she:
- Is ready to take on new challenges and is willing to learn.
- Has good work ethic?
- Willing to learn and adjust to change.
- Can be a role model and one who leads by example.
- Is willing to motivate and mentor crew members.
- Is a team player?
- Takes responsibility.
- Is honest and acts with integrity.
3. Qualifications
- Has minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified and competent tradesperson, and / or Business Management Skills preferred.
- Has a valid and clean Australian driver’s license
4. Direction
When problems arise, he/she will:
- Ask for assistance and direction from Management, and Seek advice on a possible issue.
- Communicate how they perceive a problem can be corrected.
As a key participant in the relationship with the company, other contractors, and the client, the Assistant Manager is the second management level and has a further role as a coordinating manager and client interface.
The Assistant Manager has the following overview of responsibility:
- Safety
- Leadership and Supervision
- Planning and Scheduling
- Quality Control
- Employee Relations
- Administration
A Generous Salary will be negotiated after a review of the relevant skills.
