Position Information

Jewells Primary School has a culture of high expectations where all students value learning and strive to succeed. We ensure quality teaching and learning in a respectful, supportive and inclusive environment. Jewells Primary School has an enrolment of 280 students, including 29 Aboriginal students, and one of our classes is a Regional Opportunity Class (OC) for Years 5 and 6, with students from over 20 schools applying to be part of that class each year. Jewells Primary School offers a number of extra-curricular initiatives across sports, arts and cultural fields.

The school enjoys a strong connection with the Wakul Karabang (Belmont) Community of Schools, JPS Parents and Citizens (P&C) association, and the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). Positive partnerships underpin strong relationships that benefit all students. 

Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary;   

• An approachable, collaborative and visible leader with the ability to build capacity and promote and embed mutually respectful relationships.
• Outstanding ability to lead and build a strong culture of evidence informed practice and collaboration that drives improvement for all students.
• Demonstrated capacity to build a positive school culture through high expectations and engagement.
• Proven ability to implement, manage and lead change alongside a dynamic team.

General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
