The Treasury is seeking a dynamic senior executive to lead the Governance Branch. As Assistant Secretary, Governance you will have extensive experience in governance and government processes combined with a strong understanding of the workings of Parliament and associated processes.
You will possess strong leadership and management experience coupled with strong stakeholder engagement capability and capacity to work effectively with the Executive, Ministers, and key internal and external stakeholders. Delivery of outcomes with credibility and integrity is critical for this role.
The successful candidate will possess sound judgement and be able to consider multiple options to resolve complex issues.
The key duties of the position include:
- Supporting the Secretary to meet their obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and other applicable instruments. This will be achieved through the provision of core governance functions including integrity, audit and assurance, fraud and corruption control, risk management. You will also be required to provide the Department with support, expert advice and effective frameworks to ensure meaningful and compliant measurement and reporting of performance through Treasury’s Corporate Plan, Annual Performance Statement, and Annual Report.
- Managing all aspects of Ministerial, Parliamentary and Cabinet business for the department, by overseeing and providing advice on correspondence and submissions, providing guidance to the department to meet Cabinet protocols, and supporting Treasury’s engagement with Parliamentary committees.
- Supporting the Portfolio Governance function including managing portfolio appointments to bodies across the portfolio, whilst supporting agencies in adopting best practice approaches to managing significant governance risks in relation to statutory and non-statutory office holders.
- Managing the Strategic Secretariat function which supports the governance of the Department’s Strategic Committees and provides accurate and timely advice on policy and procedure for committee management. The Assistant Secretary is the Secretariat for the Executive Board.
- Maintaining the department’s Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS).
