  • Full-time at 35 hours per week + flex time
  • NSW location with hybrid working from home and office supported, regional encouraged
  • Salary range is from $70,694.00 to $94,323.00 + super and leave loading

Our Surface Water Science team is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Water Scientist to help support the development, implementation and reporting of research projects that contribute to improved understanding of priority water issues.

As the Assistant Water Scientist you will be involved reviewing research findings, assisting in the development and/or update of information and publication of materials, assisting in monitoring and evaluation activities to inform planning and water management and additional functions, including administrative, technology and coordination support. This opportunity will also include exposure to collaboration with other Water staff, and other research, development and educational organisations, government, key community groups and the wider industry.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have knowledge and experience in undertaking water science research activities and a genuine interest in improving knowledge of water quality, aquatic ecology, and the health of ground water and surface water dependent ecosystems, relating the science to water management decision making.

You will also be proficient at prioritising tasks, undertaking accurate analysis of large and diverse data sets within tight timeframes and in a challenging environment, with a sound understanding of technology and project management. Spatial and data management skills will be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in hydrological science, appropriate applied science, or other relevant discipline
  • Valid driver’s licence and the ability and willingness to travel
