The Opportunity

If you are a Solicitor with a background in building and construction disputes and / or transactions , this could be the role for you! We have a great opportunity for a passionate and driven Solicitor to join our team in Brisbane on a permanent full-time basis, focusing on both the front and back-end aspects of Construction & Infrastructure projects.

Our Construction and Infrastructure team works on exciting projects with government and private sector clients across the country and are looking to bolster our team as our client base expands. Our team will support you to build your career and help target opportunities that excite you. We work across sectors, and this provides an opportunity to help be part of a growth story in areas that matter to you.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on some exciting matters alongside a team of passionate lawyers and support staff. Whilst your day-to-day will vary, your key responsibilities in this role will include the following:

  • Assisting with the management of a portfolio of clients, building strong relationships and providing strategic advice on various matters.
  • Drafting advices to clients on various construction and infrastructure projects, including contracts, disputes, regulatory compliance, and procurement.
  • Drafting and negotiating various legal documents including construction, supply, and maintenance agreements.
  • Assisting the team with representing clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings as required.
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments in the construction and infrastructure industry.

Role Requirements

We understand that sometimes people bring skills or experience to the table that doesn't fit the mold, and we love people who think outside the box. As a guide we are seeking:

  • 3-4 years + post admission experience with an interest in construction and infrastructure.
  • A keen interest in construction and infrastructure, and a willingness to work across sectors.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to giving high quality advice and work that is clear, concise and well-considered.
  • An ability to proactively manage timeframes.
  • Strong knowledge of construction legislation and case law
  • A commitment to drive continuous improvement for the team, including through precedent development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail.
