Capital Markets & Syndicate (“CM&S”) within Global Markets is responsible for originating, advising and the execution of primary market debt issuance for clients across the government, semi-government, SSA, financial institution and corporate sectors globally. Working closely with Loan Markets Origination, Syndicate, Fixed Income Sales & Trading, CM&S acts as the originator in addition to link between various partners to drive new primary market debt transactions..
Do work that matters
As an Associate, you will work with senior executives in Capital Markets & Syndicate to drive origination efforts and manage the execution of debt markets transactions. The role provides exposure to clients, banks and investors, as well as an opportunity to understand the end-to-end origination and execution process across multiple products/markets.
Key tasks will include but not be limited to:
Support the CM&S team by working with Sales, Trading and Syndicate to bring new primary bond issues into the domestic AUD/NZD markets as well as providing support as needed to offshore DCM teams based in Asia, London, Amsterdam, New York and Auckland for global issuance in USD or other currencies as relevant.
Co-ordinate pitch materials and RFP responses which will include formulating messaging, suggesting/agreeing content, sourcing information, preparing slides, reviewing and managing stakeholders. Pitches and RFP responses will typically include an overview of funding options, funding strategy, key credit considerations, market conditions, indicative pricing, comparable transactions, process/timetable, execution considerations and credentials.
Drafting of term sheets, indicative pricing runs, trade ideas, market announcements and maintenance of pricing databases.
Assist in day-to-day execution of a transaction which could include preparing engagement letters, deal timetables, invite letters, data rooms, syndication strategies, organising roadshows, investor profiles, reviewing due diligence materials, drafting deal announcements and bookrunning.
Assist in pipeline identification and reporting, league table reporting and maintain databases
Adhere to the risk appetite of the Bank and ensure the team meets compliance, conduct, training and regulatory obligations

Are committed candidates, seeking to build on a strong foundation developed in investment banking, a corporate or institutional bank or debt advisory firm. Further, you’ll bring;
Understanding of the industry sectors and the key drivers affecting the industry.
Strong problem solving, numerical and verbal reasoning skills
Track record of building and leveraging effective relationships across an organisation to deliver against financial and risk objectives
A strong client centric mindset focused on understanding and meeting clients’ needs
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills
Strong sense of urgency and a proactive approach as well as being highly organised and efficient, with an ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Great communication skills
Previous experience in either a financial markets role or a client facing sales role
