About the Role:
Reporting to senior leadership, this role will lead a team of seven in partnering with key faculties to drive performance from a finance perspective. Working across the faculties of Law, Education and Business and Economics, a key element of the position will be to partner with faculty leaders in driving performance and growth from a finance perspective. This role will not only provide finance insights, but will be a strategic partner to each Head of Faculty and will partner with them to identify strategic opportunities based on their departmental needs and growth plans.
A key task for the Associate Director is to build long-term and meaningful relationships with relevant departmental leaders. As such, a visible presence in each faculty is required with the view of building trust to ensure a strong, lasting partnership.
Key Duties:
- Develop, implement, and lead the financial strategy across each faculty.
- Lead annual budgeting process.
- Monitoring financial performance, ensuring accurate information is provided on a regular basis to strategic leaders, ensuring operational goals are understood by budget holders.
- Lead, mentor and support the professional development of the team.
- Identify and accurately communicate financial opportunities and risks to non-finance stakeholders.
- Analyse and improve existing reporting frameworks, helping to ensure more strategic insights.
- Support the priorities and needs of each faculty, being a trusted financial advisor.
- Developing strategic long-term goals for each faculty in conjunction with appropriate leaders, and ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources to meet these goals.
- Provide adhoc reports as required.
For success in this position, the Associate Director will be a proven people leader who has a track record of working in a purpose driven environment. They will have a demonstrated history of building meaningful and lasting relationships with stakeholders, and will have previous experience of partnering with multiple departments / business units to drive performance and output. The right person will be a long term strategic thinker, and will understand the need to present information in an understandable and succinct manner to non-finance stakeholders. They will also have strong influencing skills and previous exposure to driving the finance agenda in a considered and deliberative environment.
Key Attributes:
- Fully qualified CA / CPA / CIMA.
- Experience of people management and leading a team of 5+ qualified individuals.
- Extensive Business Partnering experience across multiple business units.
- Strong communication and “story telling” capabilities, especially with non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience of presenting to and working with senior leadership.
- Higher education sector experience highly desirable.
- Workday Adaptive and MicroStrategy knowledge advantageous.
