How will I help?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Credit Analyst to join the Westpac Institutional Bank's (WIB) Customer Insights & Analytics (CI&A) team focusing on Real Estate clients. The CI&A team is responsible for high quality origination and delivery of best-in-class customer and industry insights to differentiate our sales proposition, manage portfolio risk and provide robust analysis to support and deliver sustainable credit decisions, within a wholesale banking environment.

You will manage a portfolio of existing clients and be involved in the origination process for new transactions to grow the portfolio and the ongoing monitoring and management of the client portfolio. You will also build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, analyst peers, Relationship Managers, and various product areas to help initiate and structure a range of banking transactions.

You will also:

  • Utilise your industry knowledge to deliver value added insights and research that can be used by both our customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the credit process, including the required due diligence, are properly executed
  • Test proposals against approved business and credit strategies, target market acceptance criteria and underwriting standards
  • Write credit submissions including detailed risk analysis and financial forecasting, and be able to present and negotiate submissions through WIB's risk management decision process
  • Determine the suitability of proposals, including acceptability of credit risk and structuring for final approval by a Credit Officer

What do I need?

You will have solid experience in Credit Analysis within a wholesale or corporate and Institutional banking environment. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and relationship building ability with a variety of stakeholders and external clients.

Some further advantageous skills:

  • Sound Corporate Finance experience within one or more of the following sectors of Property, Corporate Banking, Finance or Accounting industry will be well regarded.
  • Good communication and influencing skills required to manage significant relationships with stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience applying a risk mindset and commercial acumen.
  • Good attention to detail and operational expertise.
