Associate Director - Emergency Management
Permanent/Ongoing role with NSW Telco
Grade 11/12 - $139,787 - $161,663 + super
Sydney-based role
Hybrid working options available and flexible working arrangements.
On-call allowance as applicable.
NSW Telco Authority works to protect telecommunications infrastructure to help keep people safe and connected.
We are looking for an Associate Director to lead our Emergency Management function and oversee our Telecommunications Functional Area (TelcoFA).
You are an influential leader that will play a key role in the agency's telecommunications Emergency Management prevention, preparedness, response and recovery phases.
You will build relationships with Emergency Service Organisations and carriers as well as bring proven experience of influencing diverse and senior stakeholders. You are able to communicate technical information in clear and simple language.

The role leads the Emergency Management unit within NSW Telco Authority and reports to the Head of Network Operations and Emergency Management.
In this role you will:

  • Support NSW Telco Authority's strategic priorities
  • Lead the Emergency Management team to provide strategic and operational direction
  • Provide expert leadership and strategic advice on telecommunications incidents and emergency operations, capability development and lessons management to ensure the ongoing development of the TelcoFA
  • Develop, build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to foster collaboration and leverage expertise to plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies and major events.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
  • Must have, or be able to attain and maintain, a NV1 national security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a large multi-disciplinary team in a service delivery environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Emergency Management and/or telecommunications or relevant discipline and/or demonstrated relevant working experience in a similar role/industry.
  • Leading teams in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering on priorities to a prescribed standard.
  • Previous experience within the Emergency Management sector desirable.
  • Please note that the successful applicant will be required, at times, to work outside regular working hours. An on-call allowance as applicable.
