The Department:
The Pharmacy service operates over 5 sites within Northern Health and has a strong vision to deliver exceptional, evidenced-based care to our patients - with a clear focus on research, medication safety and clinical excellence. We are currently undergoing a large period of expansion and specialisation, creating exciting opportunities for individuals keen to challenge themselves and progress their professional knowledge and skills.
The Role:
A permanant full-time opportunity exists for an Associate Director Pharmacy Education, Research and Development to join the team at Northern Health. This role will cover 80 hours per fortnight, Monday-Friday 0800-1700 with monthly Accrued Day Off.
This role will become an integral part of our growing pharmacy workforce (which comprises of over 100 pharmacists and 30 technicians) has responsibility for the organisation, implementation and supervision of pharmacy services for the Education, Development & Research Directorate.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the Pharmacy Education team to provide structured, contemporary and comprehensive training programs for pharmacy staff and students.
- Guide and participate in training programs and education sessions for pharmacy staff
- Oversee, cultivate, and guide essential initiatives aimed at the professional growth of pharmacy staff.
- Govern supervision activities to promote staff development and compliance to standards of practice.
- Recognize and implement novel approaches and strategies in the development of staff, education, and workforce management.
- Revise and uphold orientation programs for pharmacists and technicians across all clinical services within the Northern Health.
- Drive and oversee pharmacy credentialing activities, including the monitoring of advanced scope of practice initiatives, while applying evidence-based practice principles.
- Participate in formulating the strategic plan for pharmacy services, addressing hospital priorities, adapting to emerging trends, and achieving objectives through change initiatives
- Collaborate with senior pharmacists and technicians under guidance of the Director of Pharmacy to create, enhance, execute, and evaluate tailored educational programs for identified staffing groups.
- Identify research opportunities and drive the research agenda for the pharmacy department.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A recognised degree in Pharmacy from an approved tertiary institution and hold full current AHPRA registration
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital pharmacy
- High level leadership, negotiation and decision-making skills
- Knowledge and experience of information systems and technology
