About the Role
Do you want to propel world-changing medical breakthroughs? The Associate Director, Philanthropic Strategy, is a critical player in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS). By strategically identifying Faculty priorities and crafting compelling proposals, you'll turn visionary ideas into reality through impactful philanthropy. Partnering with over 6,000 researchers and leading a dedicated team, you'll secure the resources needed to revolutionize healthcare. This leadership role demands sharp analysis, shrewd planning, and the ability to inspire action. Join us and make a lasting difference in global health.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Craft Philanthropic Strategy: Partner with Faculty to identify priorities, translate complex ideas into compelling content, and develop a winning strategy.
  • Build a Funding Arsenal: Identify and assess MDHS research strengths, creating a deep understanding to inform fundraising efforts.
  • Lead and Support: Oversee project management, govern philanthropic priorities, and empower Faculty leadership through workshops and presentations.
Who we are looking for
We seek a highly motivated leader with a proven track record of providing strategic advice and navigating complex negotiations. They excel at building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization. This individual thrives in a collaborative environment while demonstrating strong ethical leadership and discretion, especially when dealing with sensitive donor information.You will also have:
  • An undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (with extensive relevant experience); or an equivalent combination of relevant extensive experience and education/training.
  • Proven ability to operate at a creative and conceptual level, using initiative to identify opportunities, linkages and overcome challenges.
  • Expert organisational and critical thinking skills, including the ability to absorb, interpret and articulate data and information from multiple sources to identify and prioritise actions.
  • Excellent program/project management skills, including the ability to set and meet deadlines, work efficiently on multiple projects, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proven record of writing proposals and/or business cases, budgets, reports, proposals and project plan for significant projects and gifts (100,000+).
  • Professional skills and knowledge of Advancement in higher education, ideally in Australia and an understanding of major international and national trends in Advancement.
