Associate Engineer – Drainage, Gold Coast
We are currently seeking Flooding and Drainage Engineers with proven experience in delivering major transport infrastructure projects across Queensland and Nationally. We have two new permanent opportunities to expand our existing Flooding and Drainage team, and these positions will be based at SMEC's Gold Coast office.

The opportunities
We are currently seeking Flooding and Drainage Engineers at Senior and Associate levels with proven experience in delivering major transport infrastructure projects across Queensland and Nationally. These are permanent opportunities based in our attractive Gold Coast office.
With a strong pipeline of major projects to deliver, we're seeking Civil/Hydrological/Drainage/Water Resources Engineers with a proven drainage design and flood mitigation modelling background to join a highly capable multidisciplinary team.
With a minimum of 5-10+ year's commercial experience in delivering drainage design on road or rail projects, this is an opportunity for you to provide expert drainage advice and demonstrate advanced technical skills, ensuring that analysis and design tasks meet appropriate technical standards and our client's requirements.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Suitable applicants will ideally have/be:
- Degree qualified – Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering or similar, preferably with RPEQ status)
- 5-10+ years’ commercial experience and knowledge of delivering drainage, flood mitigation and water engineering solutions
- Demonstrated ability to successfully undertake and deliver client’s TOR within budget and timelines
- Experience in the coordination, design and delivery of projects within a multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Familiar with relevant Australian Road Standards / TMR Standards and Australian Rainfall and Runoff
- Submit technical reports of a standard requiring minimal correction and provide final reviews of reports.
- Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international)
