Form of workOur client is a leading presence in the Australian equities market boasting a strong team of seasoned analysts covering the active market sectors. On behalf of our client we are looking to hire an Associate Analyst into their Mining and Resources team – someone who is keen to build on their existing experience in Natural Resources.
We are looking for a person who has a combination of hands on experience of the Mining industry working as a Mining Engineer or Geologist along with experience gained in the financial sector, where you will have developed your analytical and financial modelling skills . You will ideally have undertaken additional studies that will have helped to develop your analytical skills and financial modelling experience. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to join a team that already enjoys a great reputation and is a leader in researching Small Cap/Growth stocks in the Australian Mining sector. Prior experience working within Equities research would be well received but not essential.
As an Associate Analyst, you will work closely with the existing Mining Research team to provide financial analysis and financial modelling support that will contribute to commentary on the sector. You will assist with the preparation of company reports and presentations, build financial models, analyse large data sets to identify key trends as well as attend corporate and investment advisory sessions as appropriate for Institutional clients and stakeholders. This desk is expanding its coverage of small cap miners with an emphasis on battery materials/ green energy/renewables.
You will have access to company management and industry experts, as well as other industry wide conferences, as a means for fact gathering and idea generation and development. You will help to set the direction of the team, and contribute to coverage of a basket of Mining stocks .
We are looking for someone with a curious mind, self-motivation, strong attention to detail and a passion for markets.
To be a strong contender for this job you MUST offer the following:
- Previous experience in the Natural Resources industry as a Mining Engineer/Geologist or Consultant, this is an essential element.
- Post graduate qualifications in Finance or Economics would be well received but not essential.
- Highly analytical mindset – ability to dig deep into financial information and draw conclusions
- Advanced writing skills and an ability to clearly communicate your ideas in a group environment.
- Advanced excel /financial modelling skills.
- This preference is that the successful candidate will be based in Sydney this job is predominantly office based, it cannot be done remotely.
