About Auburn House
A Place for compassion: Auburn House is an aged care provider and specialist person's mental health unit with 30 private rooms in a newly refurbished home like environment. We care for residents with diverse mental health, behavioural and psychological needs. Our care model is centred around the person, ensuring their ability to make choices in every aspect of their lives is supported. We strive for care that is provided in consultation with each person, eliminating institutional elements to the greatest extent possible.
We are a vital part of St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne Residential, Palliative Care & Correctional Health Services, a key clinical service program of SVHM and broader SVHA Public Hospital division. Auburn House operates with a qualified nursing workforce of Enrolled and Registered nurses with agreed workforce ratios and staffing levels that exceed industry standard.
About the Role

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager at Auburn House in Hawthorn East, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the dignity and quality of life of our residents with unique behavioural and psychological needs. Here, within a nurturing and safe environment, you'll have the exceptional opportunity to hone your leadership and clinical skills while caring for a diverse group of residents, making a profound impact on their lives. As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide direction, guidance and support to the nursing team as well as support and assist the Nurse Unit Manager in achieving specific Key Performance Indicators as developed for the unit and, be capable of acting as the Nurse Unit Manager when required.

Classifications for this position will range from classification range NP83 - NP74 ($103,724 - $107,213 per annum pro rata).
About You
Empathy, Expertise and Leadership. We are seeking a dynamic, highly driven, experienced Registered Nurse with a background in aged mental health or dementia care and the motivation to lead the team at Auburn House. You will have demonstrated leadership and management skills, along with excellent skills in communication and organisation. Your unwavering commitment to a person-centred approach to care will empower residents to achieve their health goals and enhance their overall well-being. With a positive work attitude and engaging manner, you will thrive on the unique and varied needs of our resident population, striving to provide the highest standard of evidence-based care.
Qualifications and Commitment: in addition to experience, you will need
- Current Nursing Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- An understanding of relevant legislation; principles and practice of aged psychiatry, and an understanding of the Commonwealth Aged Care Standards
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or be willing to obtain
