About the Role
As part of the senior leadership team the Associate Nurse Unit Manager will manage day to day clinical operations in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will provide direction, guidance and support to the nursing team and escalate care of the deteriorating patient. The Associated Nurse Unit Manager will manage daily staffing allocation to ensure appropriate skill mix.
Under the delegation of the NUM, the ANUM;
Is responsible for providing leadership and mentoring to the Nursing Team.
Is responsible for leading, coordinating and providing efficient and effective resource management to achieve optimum resident outcomes, in accordance with relevant legislation, professional and operational standards
Deputises for the NUM within the SVHM guidelines and practices, when required.
Classifications for this position will range from YW11 – YW12 ($106,834.00 - $110,432.10 per annum)

Your Contribution
Take responsibility for the daily operational management of the unit, nursing staff and patients through accountability as the senior nurse on shift.
Participate in relevant multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, ward rounds and other clinical management meetings for team based care planning.
Lead and contribute to the planning and development of the unit and actively participate in team based quality and service improvement activities.
Provide high quality care that is safe, effective, timely, clinically appropriate and in accordance to professional nursing standards and best practice, ensuring the nursing team do the same.
Respond to and escalate clinical changes in patient’s conditions and initiate consultations with relevant medical/nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team as required.
Provide education to patients regarding medication, self-help and coping strategies and symptom management.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation, adhering to all aspects of confidentiality.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Current APHRA nursing registration.
Substantial experiences as a Registered Nurse or Associate Nurse Unit Manager
Extensive skills, knowledge and experience in the acute, sub-acute, and/or primary health care settings as a Registered Nurse or associate Nurse Unit Manager
Proven ability to work under pressure, excellent time management skills and understand change management
Commitment to providing high quality health services using a person-centred approach to care
Experience working within Correctional Health care setting/s and as an Acting Associate Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent desired but not mandatory
High-level skills in Microsoft Office software and sound information technology skills

About the St Vincent's Correctional Health Service (SVCHS)
SVCHS at Port Phillip Prison (PPP) provides primary health, secondary medical health and mental health care to prisoners at Port Phillip Prison, Laverton. Port Phillip Prison is a maximum security male prison accommodating approximately 1107 inmates and is situated 20 km West of Melbourne. St. John’s inpatient unit is a 40 bed subacute medical ward providing a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. On site services include, haemodialysis, Palliative Care, Complex wound management, day oncology treatments, post-surgical/early discharge care, infectious disease management and rehabilitation programs.
