John Curtin College of The Arts is seeking to establish a pool of Associate Principal appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025.

John Curtin College of the Arts is seeking appointments for creative, strategic and innovative Associate Principals who would work collaboratively with the Principal, members of the executive and senior leadership teams and the college community to provide educational leadership through developing and promoting the college’s business plan.

Associate Principals hold an executive role in one of the State’s leading Independent Public Schools. Suitable candidates would be responsible for strategic leadership of whole college policies and processes, college operations, resource and funding allocation and future strategic planning, with a focus on achieving exceptional educational outcomes for Gifted and Talented Arts students.

The Associate Principal should be a collaborative, outstanding leader with exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.

The Associate Principal should lead and motivate college staff in developing and implementing a diverse range of educational programs that will achieve the best educational outcomes for Gifted and Talented Arts students. Suitable applicants will be responsible for quality assurance of all college performances, productions, and exhibitions. Consequently, the position needs a broad range and depth of knowledge of all Gifted and Talented Arts courses. Furthermore, the suitable candidate should have highly developed understandings of Gifted and Talented education, be committed to supporting the college’s vision and promoting and developing strong community partnerships within the broader community and industry.

John Curtin College of the Arts is a leader in public education. Our commitment is to not only build capacity in students’ academic pursuits but to make each student the very best person they can be by celebrating achievements in all facets of education, using creativity to promote excellence and nurture wellbeing.

Our college caters for 1800 students from Years 7 to 12. Our programs reflect our belief that all students are individual and come with different learning needs. We offer learning experiences that motivate and extend students academically and creatively through our Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Arts Programs in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre and Visual Arts, as well as a school-based Academic Program and Football Specialist program.

We use the Arts as a vehicle for student engagement and motivation. The Arts at John Curtin College of the Arts is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and the ability to communicate, all important attributes for any future pathway.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;

  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Applications will be assessed against the work related requirements of the position. The business needs of the school may also be considered.
