About the RoleWe are seeking a Midwife who is as passionate about teaching as they are about research, policy and practice. Tasked with contributing to the development of teaching materials, delivery of innovative teaching and learning strategies and examinations, you will also contribute to ethical, high quality, innovative research, including implementation of findings into clinical practice. In addition, you will make an independent contribution to strengthening existing partnerships or exploring new partnerships with external stakeholders that have the potential for providing improved teaching, learning and/or research outcomes for the University, service providers and women and families within Midwifery and associated areas.The successful candidate will join a team of passionate Midwives that have a diverse range of clinical, academic and research experience but aligned vision for supporting students to gain the essential skills to provide high quality, safe and effective woman-centred care. The team deliver a 3 year Bachelor of Midwifery and a 2 year Bachelor of Midwifery (Registered Nurse Entry) on campus at Bedford Park and across a range of clinical settings for professional placements with industry partners. Many of the team maintain clinical positions concurrently, ensuring the curriculum is informed by contemporary clinical practice. There are also new University clinical services soon to commence on campus with Midwifery staff leading on the design, delivery and evaluation of these services alongside students. The team are also active in research, many having completed or currently undertaking honours or higher degree research themselves. There is a formal relationship through a joint Level E research position with the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, providing unique and growing opportunities for innovative and impactful clinical research. About You We are seeking an experienced academic who will contribute to the ambitions of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. To be successful in this position you will have completed a PhD in a field relevant to Midwifery and have registration with AHPRA and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Midwife. It is expected that these registrations will be maintained during tenure at the University.The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate: Significant and sustained evidence of successful relevant teaching experience at tertiary level, including responsibility for topic coordination and/or curriculum design.Evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area of strategic research focus for the Caring futures Institute (CFI).Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and external industry partners.A commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture.Life at Flinders We're transforming and investing in people and facilities to create contemporary, stimulating, and satisfying learning and work environments that reflect our core values of excellence, innovation, courage, and integrity.
