Lead teaching and research in Human Nutrition, overseeing academic programs and subject streams in relevant degrees.
Build strong relationships with industry, external research partners, and local communities to promote the adoption of innovative technologies for enhancing nutritional benefits in food systems.

About the RoleThe Associate Professor in Human Nutrition will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching and research in Human Nutrition, spanning from food and sensory sciences to nutritional physiology, biochemistry, and health. The position will play an important role in the academic leadership of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses and subject streams, particularly within the Bachelor of Science (major in Human Nutrition) and Master of Food Science degree. As an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne, the incumbent will have a growing recognition as an eminent authority nationally and internationally in their field of research.
Your responsibilities will include:
Undertake internationally competitive independent and/or team-based research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne
Actively participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings in their area of expertise as opportunities arise.
Take a leading role during in the development, preparation and submission of research proposal submissions to internal or external funding bodies as relevant.
Actively contribute to teaching, training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students
Undertake probationary and performance management processes, ensuring you have regular conversations with your staff and are providing positive and constructive feedback to enhance staff and team performance.
Contribute to and present quality research to the public to elevate public awareness of educational and scientific developments and promote critical enquiry and public debate within the community where appropriate.
Who We Are Looking ForYou will possess a demonstrated ability to design and conduct high-quality research in Human Nutrition, coupled with excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines and ensure timely project completion.
You will also have:
A PhD in Human Nutrition or a related discipline
An established track record of high-quality publications in leading international journals, relative to career opportunity in the area of Human Nutrition
An outstanding track record in obtaining external research funding from national competitive research bodies and other sources, including industry government grants and directing research programs.
Demonstrated track record of developing and delivering teaching programs at undergraduate and graduate levels.
An established track record of attracting and supervising postgraduate and higher degree students to completion.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
