About the opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to support the research and teaching activities of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. The successful candidate is expected to have a track record in externally funded pre-clinical research in biologics such as RNA/DNA-based therapeutics which is clearly aligned with clinical applications and drug development. The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Pharmacology will be involved in the design, coordination and teaching of coursework unit(s) offered by the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. The incumbent may also be required to contribute to other teaching streams, relevant to their area(s) of expertise. This position plays a critical role in representing the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, with strong relationship management and a high level of communication skills critical for success.

What you’ll do:
Contribute to high-quality impactful research in the area of pre-clinical biologic drug research such as RNA/DNA-based therapeutics, by initiating and driving external competitive funding applications, Q1 publications and high impact industry engagement.
Contribute and/or lead high quality supervision of research students (Honours, Masters and PhD) in areas relevant to biologic therapeutics.
Demonstrate a scholarly approach to teaching, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and student learning outcomes.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline.
Make a meaningful contribution to the University's values driven culture by contributing to the collective effort of building a successful collegial culture within the School.
­What we’re looking for:
To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:
A PhD in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
Proven track record in the field of biologics with special emphasis on RNA/DNA-based therapeutic approaches evidenced by publications in Q1 journals, presentations at conferences, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry engagement, and/or translational research (Level C).
A very strong research track record that has made or has the potential to make a significant impact to the development and/or use of RNA/DNA-based therapeutics (Level D).
Proven track record of successful supervision of PhD students (Level C).
Evidence of successful supervision of PhD students and mentoring of junior colleagues and/or post-doctoral research fellows (Level D).
A track record of successfully securing external competitive grants and/or other forms of external funding such pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, and/or translational research (Level C).
A successful track record of leading and sustaining a research program in the area of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, and/or translational research using external grant funding (Level D).
The ability to develop, implement and undertake scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, including face-to-face, online, and blended educational approaches with a strong commitment to student learning outcomes.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C or D and will have a total remuneration package of up to $198,727 comprising base salary within the range of $130,713 to $169,852 plus 17% superannuation.
