Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor of Aquatic Animal Health

About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer or an Associate Professor in Aquatic Animal Health within the Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture at Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies within the College of Science and Engineering. The Associate Professor of Aquatic Animal Health will be an active researcher with expertise relevant to fisheries and aquaculture in Aquatic Animal Health with expertise in molecular biology and its application to the discipline. The appointee will attract research higher degree students and undertake research training, build effective relationships with key local, national and international stakeholders, facilitate success in winning funding from a range of sources and make a significant contribution to the University's research and teaching profile.
What you'll do:
  • Make a substantial and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives.
  • Undertake high-quality research of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of an exemplary quality and provide leadership in key areas of learning and teaching in the discipline.
  • Provide academic leadership, particularly in building teams and fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching, and increasingly in supporting the career development of more junior staff.
  • Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally, nationally and internationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
What we're looking for:
  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, e.g., Aquatic Animal Health.
  • A substantial record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved international recognition and made innovative, and sustained contributions to the field of Aquatic Animal Health.
  • A substantial record of successful research higher degree student supervision and completions.
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated achievement in University-level teaching and learning.
  • Proven ability as an academic leader, with a record in team building and creating effective working relationships, and capacity to foster excellence in research and teaching.
  • A demonstrated capacity to build and maintain effective and productive links locally, nationally and internationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $198,727 comprising base salary within the range of $130,713 to $169,852 plus 17% superannuation.
