About the role
The Associate Program DirectorAdult Community, Mental Health and Wellbeing is a member of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Program senior leadership team, reporting to the Program Director. The role will drive strategy and direction, innovation, clinical safety, quality and risk management as well as financial and activity management. The position will oversee the enhancement of existing clinical services, new program implementation and program innovations that are focused on agreed strategic outcomes. In responding to the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health Services, a key area of focus will be the implementation of new models of care, which will include working with various internal and external stakeholders to drive implementation of the recommendations.
The Associate Program Director will hold operational responsibility for:
- Clinical services across four sites in Box Hill, Forest Hill, Ringwood, Ferntree Gully.
- Oversight of operations of a number of partner provider services linked to service provision for adult consumers
- Working closely with the Associate Program Director, Lived Experience, to enhance integration of lived experience in services models across Adult Community teams and,
- Service and staff participation in research and education activities.

- Significant experience in a leadership role working at both the strategic and operational level within a large health service.
- Recognised as a successful health service leader and ability to manage a diverse team.
- Demonstrated experience of managing complex changes in a large multifaceted environment.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgement in ethical, clinical and management issues.
- A strong record of motivating and developing employees through effective leadership.
- Capacity to understand the complexities and challenges of the health sector and, specifically, the mental health and wellbeing system and the broader sector reform program.
- A clinical background and a strong understanding of mental health services.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to consultation, influencing and conflict resolution.
- Postgraduate qualifications, preferably at Masters level in Business, Health Service Management and/or related field.
