Job description

We’re excited to have been awarded the Metropolitan Victorian Road Maintenance Contract – South Central Region.

Starting in July this year, we’ll be working across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs and right down the Mornington Peninsula, delivering routine maintenance, emergency response and defect rectification works, as well as network refurbishment and upgrade projects, under a major long-term contract with the Victorian Government.

How you'll contribute:

Reporting to the Business & Performance (B&P) Manager, the Assurance & Improvement Coordinator supports all quality management systems, processes and procedures for the Contract. 

Specifically, the Assurance & Improvement Coordinator is accountable for: 

  • Establishing and maintaining the VRMC SharePoint site as the central repository for all Contract documents, providing training to Contract personnel on document management requirements 
  • Monitoring compliance with Section 750 PB and the VRMC Quality Management Plan in relation to Hold Points, ITPs, inspections and auditing of completed works through desktop and field audits  
  • Investigating quality management issues and non-conformances, capturing key information and improvement actions in Service Stream’s non-conformance reporting management system, and analysing non-conformance data to identify significant variances from planned outcomes for further investigation 
  • Auditing the Program Plans and coordinating review and update of the Program Plans in line with Contract requirements  
  • Maintaining the VRMC Improvement & Innovations Register, preparing business cases for, and coordinating implementation of, initiatives approved under the Transport Innovations Hub

This role can be based in either our Network Intelligence & Operations Centre (NIOC) in Melbourne CBD or in our VRMC Depot in South Dandenong. Full-time, part-time and flexible working options will be considered for this role. 

About you: 

You’ll have at least three years’ experience in a quality management role overseeing long-term maintenance and/or capital/project works programs with annual budgets > $30 million. Your experience will be in directly relevant industries such as civil engineering, road construction / maintenance, resources or heavy manufacturing. 

A committed team player who drives for service excellence and continuous improvement, you’ll demonstrate: 

  • Detailed knowledge of ISO9001 quality management framework and a relentless focus on complying with legislative standards, contract specifications and internal processes  
  • A track record of influencing front line workers, supervisors and management personnel to embed an “quality” culture 
  • High levels of self-motivation, exceptional time-management skills and a proven ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision 
  • Strong verbal communication, document/database management, report writing and administration skills  

A current Victorian driver’s license is mandatory. Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor will be highly regarded. Formal qualifications (Cert III or higher) in civil construction are a bonus, but not essential if you can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability.
