Attention Exercise Physiologists, Sport Scientists!

Attention Exercise Physiologists & Sports Scientists who want to separate themselves from the rest & become experts in working with people with disabilities and mental health conditions.

Fit n Able is a registered NDIS provider specialising in improving our participants' strength, fitness, mobility, balance, confidence & social skills. We are looking for highly motivated Exercise Physiologists or Sports Scientists with the desire and personality to work with people with disabilities and mental health conditions. 

In this unique facility, you will work with many types of participants with various disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, MS, brain injuries and mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and bipolar.

Fit n Able's approach is to ensure every participant has a tailored program to provide them with the best outcomes to improve their daily living activities and create more independence. We combine progressive overload strength training, clinical physiology, cardiovascular endurance training and evidence-based practices to create measurable and tangible outcomes for our participants. 

You will go through about 20 hours of initial training that covers how to work and communicate with participants with various disabilities and technique training in progressive overload strength training that has been adapted to train and progress this population group safely. There are monthly workshops for further skills development as well as on-the-job mentoring. 

Initially, the position is casual (20 - 30 hours per week), with opportunities to move to permanent part-time or full-time depending on your desire and performance.  

The ideal candidate must fit the criteria below, be willing to learn new skills and approaches to exercise and communication and have the right personality to work with the population group we serve. 

What is expected from you at Fit n Able?

• You will need professional insurance and registration with ESSA.
• CPR & First Aid Certificates, 
• Working with Children's Check
• NDIS Workers Screening Check. 
• Have or obtain a level one boxing instructions certificate no less than eight weeks from your employment start date.
• You must be prepared to learn new methodologies and new ways of communication, specifically for people with autism and intellectual disabilities.
• You must have a desire to work with people with disabilities or have had some experience working with people with disabilities.
• You must be prepared to commit to each client for the duration of their program (12 weeks minimum).
• You must be prepared to follow our systems and processes.
• You must be punctual, well presented and turn up to work with a positive attitude.

• Clients are long-term (12 months on average) rather than short-term clients.
• You will be paid competitive rates, including superannuation.
• You will be paid if a client cancels with less than 48 hours’ notice.
• If you are committed to Fit n Able, we will put you through various external courses to increase your skill set.
