About your new role:

As a member of the Substation Design & Engineering team, you will apply your engineering expertise to successfully deliver safe, effective and efficient design solutions.

Utilising your extensive control systems background, you will be involved in the design and delivery of real time control system hardware and software systems for our network’s master station, substation, generator and lines projects.

You will provide quality technical engineering support to the team, including delivery of designs, verification and design support of commissioning, operational and maintenance activities on projects.

Working with a variety of stakeholders, you will be presented with an environment where you will be able to grow and develop your computing, networking, configuration and programming skills with the latest technologies.

Annual salary ranges from $140,751.00 to $182,744.00 + Super; 9 or 10-day fortnight. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position.

About you:

As an Automation Design Engineer you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering that meets the qualification requirements to become a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).
  • Electricity industry experience is highly desirable but not essential.
  • In depth knowledge, experience and abilities in the design of control system communication interfaces using industry standard protocols (for example DNP3, TCP/IP, ICCP, OPC).
  • Experience in the design principles and practices of substation secondary systems design including interpretation of network protection, relays, control circuits, alarm, metering and transducer circuits and telecommunication systems.
  • A specialist knowledge of the Safe Design principles and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, meeting project deadlines on time and within budget.
  • A willingness to contribute to development of peers through technical support and knowledge and experience sharing.
  • Experience in scoping and estimating and preparing high quality complex engineering reports and technical documents.
