The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, theAutomation Engineer aims to deliver electrical design, programming, consultancy, and management services to clients, involving client liaison to identify cost-effective solutions, enhance customer relationships, and offer suggestions for system/process improvements to generate additional business. This role allows the opportunity to be part of a diverse range of green and brownfield projects of varying size, across industries such as food & beverage, infrastructure, water, and resources.
Your daily tasks will include functional design specifications, control narratives, programming, implementation, troubleshooting, and fault finding across complex control systems and plant optimisation platforms.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical, Electronics OR relevant trade experience
- Working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTU, Historian & MES technology – in particular Allen Bradley/Rockwell - ControlLogix, MicroLogix, PanelView, FactoryTalk & Ignition SCADA
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for designing electrical drawings
- Aptitude to learn complex systems integration tasks – PLC, SCADA and HMI programming, configuration and implementation.
- Experience in and the willingness to conduct complex fault finding and troubleshooting tasks both remotely and on-site
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
