Automation Engineer

Your purpose:We are seeking a talented and motivated Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Fonterra Wynyard site. As an Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge automation solutions, optimizing processes, and contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production facilities.Key responsibilities: Maintain and improve the control systems to provide reliability, efficiency and/or flexibility of the plant Provide support and training guidance to maintenance and operations staff in utilising control system tools for fault diagnosis and correction Provide expert control system knowledge to assist plant management with process improvement initiatives and / or resolve issues. Develop and implement automation strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity in manufacturing processes Participation in an automation support roster, providing out-of-hours response to the site Configuration / Programming of control systems where appropriate (e.g. SCADA, PLC, VSD & network devices etc.) About you:We are seeking candidates that have experience with automation machinery in a similar manufacturing environment. You can also demonstrate:Qualification in electrical engineering, megatronics, automation, or closely related fieldProven experience in designing and implementing automation solutions within a manufacturing environmentProficiency in PLC programming, and HMI developmentStrong understanding of industrial communication protocols Familiarity with SCADA systems and data acquisitionExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsEffective communication and collaboration abilitiesFonterra is a global nutrition company owned by 10,000 farming families in New Zealand.
