We are looking for Autonomous Operations Support Specialiststo join our Tier One client's cutting edge Operations Support Team in Perth.In response to significant growth in internally developed autonomous drill and blast truck fleets within their Pilbara mining operations, our tier one client is looking to expand its Tier 2 level remote support team based in Perth. Travel to our client's various mine sites will be required on occasion.
Working an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of automated systems, with a focus on optimizing reliability, efficiency, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing remote (OC-Based) technical support to on-site Tier 1 Technicians for RT-deployed autonomous technologies.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical faults related to RT-deployed autonomous technologies, with the ability to escalate to product development teams when necessary.
- Monitoring automated systems to ensure smooth operation, proactively identifying and addressing any issues or potential bottlenecks.
- Delivering technical coaching and upskilling to Tier 1 Technicians and on-site leaders to support defined technician development pathways.
- Offering technology deployment and commissioning support for Sustaining Capital Technology projects, particularly those relevant to RT-developed autonomous technologies, during peak demand periods.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimization within automated systems, collaborating with stakeholders to implement changes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Occasionally traveling to RTIO sites to execute these functions.
The technical knowledge and skills required for these roles are highly specialised and may be challenging to find outside of the organisation, however, extensive training will be provided for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- Background as an Auto-Electrician, Electrics, and Communications.
- Experience in electrical and instrumentation diagnosis, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Understanding of wireless communication.
- Applicants must have an electro-mechanical aptitude with experience in electronics, primarily focusing on providing remote diagnosis and repair.
- Practical experience in designing simple diagnostic experiments.
- Familiarity with diagnostic instruments such as DMMs, DSOs, etc.
- General understanding of common terminology of the 802.3 Ethernet protocol.
- Knowledge of wireless Access Point and mobile device computer configurations.
- Proficiency in UNIX or Linux operating systems, including basic administration.
- Experience with principles of sensors and sensor logic, and data acquisition.
- Practical experience using serial communications buses.
- Strong analytical skills for analysing system performance data, identifying trends, and recommending improvements to optimize automation processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of automation systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) systems, and industrial networks.
- Prior knowledge of ABB, Automation Builder, and Panel Builder would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in automation such as ladder logic and scripting languages like Python, crucial for troubleshooting control systems.
- Previous experience in setting up and adjusting advanced proportional-integral-derivative (PID) process control loops would be beneficial.
