Role Purpose
The role of the Service Technician plays a key role in the service team conducting troubleshooting, repairing and installing a vast range of product (including but not limited to) lighting, broadcast, control systems and stage machinery.
You will utilise your experience in service along with your technical understanding and attention to detail in AV technology to deliver results and solutions, with repairs and modifications that meet both the timelines and quality expectations of the customer. This role will work with both the customer and the service team to ensure the successful delivery of our services. Customers include (but not limited to) sporting venues, theatres/performing arts centre's, houses of worship, schools, public precincts/conference centres, corporate facilities, parliaments, TV studios and councils.
KEY RESPONSIBLITES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Whilst there are numerous key responsibilities and tasks associated with the role (detailed below) as a Service Technician, a wide range of skills are needed. These range from being able to meet tight deadlines and having the skills to communicate and collaborate with other departments, and/or clients.
A key focus is to ensure that key responsibilities are handled in a timely, professional, and effective manner and contributing to the continuous improvement of The P.A. People services.
The key responsibilities of this role includes, but is not limited to (in no order of priority):
• Diagnosing of faults in audio, staging and video equipment.
• Carrying out on site repairs to customer's audio, staging and video equipment.
• Interfacing on a regular basis with customers and the service team.
• Undertaking on site works, attempting to resolve problems during initial site visit and/or:
- removing faulting product/s for repair and patch around it to allow for continued functionality;
- removing faulting product/s and install loan equipment to allow for continued functionality; and
- contacting head office and requesting information from hire department re hiring of product/s to
allow for continued functionality.
• Developing safe work method statements for maintenance tasks.
• Mentoring and training new and existing Service Technicians.
Candidate requirements
On Call Roster
• Share the rotating role of the on-call technician for the company's 24/7 Response Maintenance customers. This is a MUST. One week in each monthwith allowances and additional remuneration payable.
Mandatory
• Current NSW (or relevant State) Working with Children Check
• Current Police Check
• Current NSW (or relevant State) Drivers licence (manual preferred)
• Maintain eligibility to work in Australia
• NSW (or relevant State) White card (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
• Working at Heights (EWP) (or willingness to obtain)
• Riggers certification
• Disconnect/reconnect licence
• Knowledge and understanding of electronic circuit theory and reading electronic schematics.
• Knowledge of pro audio visual and control systems, DSP, signal processing, broadcast video, audio and video conferencing systems, sound reinforcement systems, media control systems etc…
• Extensive knowledge and experience working with analogue and digital components and circuits.
• Experience with researching components on the internet and from manufacturers, including the sourcing of substitutes.
• Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and theories.
Experience with professional audio, video, CCTV circuits and surface mount technology.
• Knowledge of heavy mechanical and electromechanical products.
• Knowledge of audio networking protocols and systems and acoustic measurement.
• Delivering client focussed solutions to customers' needs.
• Have a solid understanding with best practice work health and safety
