Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have a choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on
- Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that are responsible for rendering Canva’s thousands of SEO landing pages.
- Working closely with SEO Specialists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and Frontend Engineers to create internal tools for scaling and automating Canva’s SEO practice.
- Working alongside product managers and designers to build, experiment with, and deploy efficient and reusable components and features.
- Having good coding and testing practices, and participating in design and code reviews.
- Collaborating across teams and specialties on new ideas and enhancements to help achieve our goals
- Taking ownership and driving projects from start to finish.
You're probably a match if
- You are comfortable coding in Java.
- You possess solid computer science and engineering fundamentals including data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
- You have experience developing reliable, scalable, and secure web applications using the latest technology.
- You possess good communication skills that allow you to build relationships with your team as well as collaborate with external team/stakeholders.
- You have a keen heart and a solid understanding of delivering value, not just code.
Good to have
- Experience with Javascript/Typescript
- Understand the basics of Search Engine Optimization and have experience with some SEO research tools, such as Botify, Lumar, Google Analytics, Google Core Web Vitals, etc
- Experience with URL management and/or large websites (>10,000 pages)
About the team
The two main focuses for SEO engineering are SEO Growth and Programmatic SEO. SEO Growth aims to capture every SEO opportunity brought by Canva’s ever-growing product offerings,
- Collaborate with SEO specialists and product feature teams to identify and explore new feature integration opportunities on landing pages.
- Develop and deploy new tools and interactive landing pages to help users find solutions to their JTBD.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services that are responsible for rendering Canva’s thousands of SEO landing pages.
- Contribute to building and maintaining the in-house CMS system.
Programmatic SEO aims to scale and automate Canva’s SEO workflow with the latest AI/ML technologies. With a team of SEO Specialists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and Frontend / Backend Engineers, we are building a top-notch tool for managing, analyzing, and showcasing large amounts of SEO data, furthermore, using these data to automate and scale our SEO practice.
