About The Role:
The Principal Clinician (Positive Behaviour Support) is responsible for delivering high-quality
evidence-based behavioural assessments to assist participants with highly complex needs
and/or experiencing high levels of risk, to reduce complexity whilst building capacity and
resilience. The role is also responsible for the implementation and training of Restrictive
Practices and Positive Behaviour Support in relation to appropriate legislation such as the
Child Safety Act, NDIS Act and Disability Services Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clients with direct assistance or act of their behalf to resolve issues associated with their care and care supports, understand their responsibilities under service
- Represent organisation and assigned clients at NDIS planning and associated meetings in matters associated with Positive Behaviour Support.
- Manage a caseload of clients who may present with increasing behavioural complexity, multiple co-morbidities, and functional limitations across multiple areas of their life.
- Undertake the preparation, development, negotiation, write-up, implementation, and ongoing management of Personal Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) and associated documentation for clients subject to the Restrictive Practices provisions of the Disability Services legislation, NDIS legislation and Care and Behaviour Support Plans for children and young people under Child Protection Orders.
- Deliver in-house training to Behaviour Support Practitioners in relation to plan writing and restrictive practices.
- Consultation with and provision of positive behavioural support services to people with a disability and their service providers/families, in line with an individual’s NDIS plan and goals.
- Utilising a multi/trans-disciplinary model interface and participate with a range of allied health professionals to provide a holistic and integrated approach to supports.
- Liaise and consult directly with other service providers to ensure achievement of positive client outcomes.
Selection Criteria:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Health Science, BehaviouralScience, Education, or another related field.
- Pre-existing registration as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS
- A valid Australian driver’s license.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates or willingness to obtain.
- Blue Card.
