- You have qualification of a Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (overseas qualifications must supply the AASW Overseas Assessment number)
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in supporting people experiencing complex grief, utilising evidence-based therapeutic techniques and current grief models.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and modalities (individual, family and groups).
The CCLHD Palliative Care Service requires a full time Bereavement Counsellor/Social Worker for a permanent position, as well as a temporary part time position covering Maternity Leave till January 2025.
Both positions are based at Long Jetty, but working across the Coast. Working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm, work days have some flexibility Monday to Friday for the part time role.
The role will be working with another 2 Bereavement Counsellors, as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team. This challenging role provides post death counselling to carers and families of the Central Coast community. The Palliative Care Bereavement team has a goal oriented model of care, focusing on complicated and/or prolonged grief. The model includes face to face, video and telephone counselling sessions, with individual and group work. You will also be using your Social Worker skills and experience for Palliative Care patients and carers in the community setting. You will be a part of an evolving Bereavement Team as we expand our resources to support the Central Coast community.
This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.
