THE ROLE
As part of the Finance team, the Billing Officer is responsible for assessing and preparing private health insurance claims. This role will suit someone who is experienced in working to deadlines to process a high volume of claims/invoices. The Billing Officer will be required to liaise with patients and other stakeholders to perform their duties, so excellent communication skills and a high level of care and empathy is a must for this role. You will be required to collect information from various sources, prepare certificates and follow up on refunds from health funds.
DUTIES
- Assess and process billings for private health fund claims
- Communicate with patients in regards to billings
- Follow up debtors and overdue payments (30 days)
- Participate in audit preparations and processes
- Assist in responding to enquiries to troubleshoot and resolve billing issues
- Input and manage data in the healthcare information system
- Previous experience in a high-volume manual billing or accounts position or, strong administrative experience with an interest in pursuing a billing role
- Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare industry would be highly advantageous
- Intermediate Excel and MS Office skills
- Strong eye for detail and attention to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
