It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class ‘ETCS' signalling system.This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects.About the RoleThe BIM and CAD Technician role is within the Digital Delivery team at the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority. The position reports to the Manager, Digital Services, and works alongside the BIM, GIS, and 3D Visualisation teams.The Digital Delivery team provides a crucial role in shaping the Delivery Authority's ‘Project DNA' strategy, which is responsible for all things digital engineering as we move towards completion of the project. This team will have a focus on addressing engineering challenges using digital engineering and will be particularly concerned with assurance, operational readiness, testing and commissioning, training and familiarisation, operations, and maintenance.This role is responsible for providing support for the coordination and operation of the federated BIM models and CAD datasets for the Delivery Authority. The role will assist the Project BIM Manager in supporting the implementation of the BIM Management Plans and the production, operation and maintenance of BIM and CAD datasets and software environments as part of the wider Project DNA strategy.This opportunity is offered as a 2 year contract with possible extension.Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce BIM and CAD outputs to the Delivery Authority's projects.
  • Review and analyse externally supplied BIM models and CAD files for adherence to digital information requirement and relevant industry standards.
  • Creation of 2D/3D CAD outputs, using design data, including support of the existing processes and procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Support the management of authoring reference files/folders using an organised and efficient approach to the CAD datasets.
  • Support the creation and analysis of federated models through industry-standard BIM and CAD procedures and tools.
  • Support BIM reporting and analysis (including 4D and 5D) for use within recurring reporting cycles.
  • Support the management of libraries and templates to ensure a consistent approach to datasets and Model/Design outputs for BIM and CAD.
  • Support the integration of BIM, CAD, GIS and Visualisation, models, and datasets as part of the DNA strategy and integrated Common Data Environment (CDE)
  • Actively participate in engagements between the Delivery Authority, project partners, and the wider groups of stakeholders
  • Support other BIM/CAD tasks as requested by the Manager, Digital Service
About You:The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:
  • Industry-relevant experience or higher education in BIM, Digital Engineering, or CAD Systems in Civil and Structural Design disciplines
  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a BIM or CAD technical delivery roles preferably in vertical and linear infrastructure or specifically the Rail industry – Major Project experience highly desirable
  • In depth knowledge and experience in the use of industry-standard BIM, CAD software applications that includes AutoDesk Suite (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks)
  • Solid working knowledge of industry standards, such as PAS1192, ISO19650
  • Experience in the collection, structure and analysis of BIM data with the ability to interpret and report on relevant data from native and IFC datasets and support the automation of further analysis and report generation
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance and recommendations in best practice processes.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work autonomously or within a team environment.
  • Experience in the use of EDMS or CDE systems such as ProjectWise, TeamBinder, or BIM360.
