The Designer is responsible for utilising Project specific 2D/3D drafting packages to create and update 2D drawings and 3D models and all other types of deliverables required for construction and design projects. The position will work closely with area representatives, engineers, vendors and other stakeholders in the design and construction process to ensure the documentation accurately represent the project requirements.
Their role includes identifying and resolving conflicts or issues that may arise during the design phase by utilising site input, existing 2D drawings and 3D models.
Additionally, the are responsible for maintaining the all project documentation to reflect any changes or revisions through the project lifecycle in both Aconex and CDMS. Assistance with all PMO project documentation creation and filing requirements.
Role & responsibilities:
- Creation of laying out plans, sections and details using AutoCAD from sketches and/or by verbal instructions?
- Management of the geotechnical database.?
- Passion for 3D model technologies with ability to promote these technologies and practices to increase user effectiveness, this includes the capability to perform site scans of the existing plant as? required and training national staff in same.
- Customer Service oriented with commitment to working within a team environment?.
- Serves as a Technician/Technologist within the site survey area to improve reliability of surveys.
- Assists in the development of alternate solutions and design options in support of project team?.
- Communicates and collaborates with the full multi-disciplinary design team and others.?
- Assists in the development of work products such as Primavera P6 schedules, SAP entries / records, specifications, drawings, specifications and illustrative graphics in the project area?

- Prepare visual presentations of project infrastructure on a GIS map and incorporate infographic type visuals on GIS map to showcase benefits associated with the different approaches for communication purposes.
- Assist in technical feasibility studies.?
- Assist with engineering, detailed design, specification writing, and drafting of drawings at different gates for in-house works.?
- Assist with key equipment technical specifications. ?
- Deliverability/ constructability assessment and technical feasibility.?
- Run Safety in Design workshops and implement actions.?
- Consider inputs and feedback from Construction Supplier?.
- Consider inputs and feedback from Operations team ?
- participate in constructability review meetings (HAZARD Study #2, #3)?
- Engineering statutory compliance auditing and solution?
- Review of designs provided by the Engineering Suppliers ?
Tertiary qualification as an Engineering Associate or equivalent
Technical Capabilities:
- Competence in
- Project specific 2D/3D drafting packages.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.

- Spreadsheet and database applications (intermediate).

Essential and desirable knowledge and experience:

- Required years of similar experience: 10+
- 2D drawings and 3D model relevant work experience is essential.
- Prior experience in a diverse team cultural environment in a mining context
- Proven track record for the delivery of project objectives and established targets is essential.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Desirable
- Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country is desirable.
- Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
