Your next exciting job opportunity –In response to continuing demand in the areas above, we are looking for an ExperiencedMechanical or Structural Engineer with exposure to heavy industry to join our Melbourne team. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for professionally and efficiently conducting engineering work without detailed supervision. This requires the application of mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects, having scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of challenging assignments.
Experience in the following fields would be highly sought after:
- Design of new port facilities for handling of bulk commodity products.
- Port bulk materials handling equipment including shiploaders, ship-unloaders, container cranes, conveying systems, transshipment systems and bulk storage systems.
- Mining equipment including conveying systems, stackers, reclaimers and bucket wheel excavators.
- Design of equipment associated with other heavy engineering industries including energy, defence, rail, shipping & transport.
- Working knowledge in the renewables energy technology.
Responsibilities & Tasks–
- Conduct stress analysis of machines, machine components, and structures using advanced techniques such as SpaceGass, finite element modeling, and computational fluid dynamics.
- Innovate and develop client-centric solutions that significantly impact the infrastructure and energy sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Collaborate seamlessly within the BMT APAC team, leveraging technical expertise to successfully execute multifaceted projects.
- Author tenders and proposals.
- Review technical reports.
- Performs engineering duties requiring mature professional knowledge: executing Mechanical Engineering projects with heavy involvement in the technical aspects of the work.
- Supervise and review the work of more junior engineers, drafters, and technicians when required.
- Make judgements and recommendations on technical matters within area of expertise.
- Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices to complete assignments.
- Share knowledge and acts as mentor to more junior staff within area of expertise.
- Adheres to quality, safety, and environmental procedures/standards.
- Liaise with clients, potential and current, for the purposes of service delivery, networking, and business development.
- Project Manage a range of projects, managing projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements.
Essential:
- Degree qualification in mechanical or structural engineering or other relevant area of study, or higher degree.
- 7+ years of relevant heavy industry experience.
- Competence in computational stress analysis using one of the following software packages: ANSYS, SpaceGass and/or SolidWorks.
- Current RPEV (Mechanical), or able to obtain.
- A thorough knowledge of both local and international governing design codes for the above equipment such as AS4324.1, AS1418, ISO 5049 & FEMII.
- Practical on site knowledge of maintenance & operational issues.
- Current class C open license.
- Strong analytical, investigative and design skills
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and people management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish relationships with staff and clients.
- Strong commercial and financial skills
Desirable:
- Experience working within a multi-site organisation
- Experience working within the engineering or resources sectors
- Supervisory/management experience (projects and/or people).
Location:
- In our Melbourne office with flexible working opportunities.
- Travel to BMT offices on occasion, which may be interstate or overseas, as and when required.
- Occasional travel to client locations which are often remote.
