The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
As Biodiversity Advisor - Offsets, you will be responsible for supporting the Offset Program Manager to:
- Deliver Transgrid's Program Biodiversity Offset Strategy.
- Acquit Transgrid's biodiversity offset liability, as required under the NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme (BOS).
- Maintain Transgrid's biodiversity credit accounting.
- Establish Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement sites.
- Engage and coordinate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare Transgrid policy and procedures relating to management and delivery of biodiversity offsets.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Tertiary qualification at degree level in an environmental related discipline (e.g. planning, management, ecology).
- Working / intermediate knowledge of the NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme (BOS) under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and it's implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in the use and management of complex databases.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of geographic information systems.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to self-manage, work under pressure and work in a team environment.
- A current driver's licence.
- Ability and willingness to work away from home (within NSW).
Desirable:
- Experience in the preparation of Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports / Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements.
- Experience managing the delivery of biodiversity offsets for development proponents.
- Experience delivering landholder engagement strategies and negotiations regarding the BOS and/or biodiversity conservation programs.
- Experience in the preparation and approval of Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports.
- BAM assessor accreditation.
