The Derwent Estuary Program (DEP) is a not-for-profit scientific partnership between industry, state, and local government with the purpose of restoring and promoting the Derwent Estuary in Hobart. We have been monitoring water quality and improving the environmental condition of the Estuary since 1999. The Biodiversity Officer role is an ongoing position. The successful applicant will be supported with professional development opportunities and be part of a small, enthusiastic and professional team. Role Description - Biodiveristy Officer

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE), on-site role located in Hobart, TAS. The Biodiversity Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of biodiversity projects including saltmarsh restoration, conducting surveys and assessments, grant application and report writing and assisting with education and outreach activities.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or similar and/or equivalent work experience relevant to role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing natural resource management projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing clear and succinct technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Skills and experience in scientific monitoring design, data management, analysis and interpretation.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment, coordinating and managing a variety of tasks.
  • Current drivers license.

Desirable

  • Experience with GIS and/or remote sensing is a plus

Professional Employees Award 2023 - Level 3 or 4 depending on skills and experience ($73,841 - $83,281 p.a pro-rata + 11% superannuation). Part-time.
