Biomedical Engineer Class 1

About the RoleThe Western health Biomedical Engineering Department is seeking a Class 1Biomedical Engineer.Opportunities will exist to work across all Western Health campuses as requested by the Biomedical Engineering workshop Manager. This permanent full time role will support diverse clinical services such as Theatres, ICU, ED, NICU and general wards.Duties

• Ensure the Biomedical Engineering service maintains compliance relevant Australian Standards and ACHS EQuiP quality frameworks.
• Perform maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment at all WH sites
• Ensure biomedical equipment are maintained in a cost effective and timely manner
• Perform preventative maintenance of biomedical equipment and ensure testing is performed annually with functional testing, calibration, maintenance and safety testing in line with Australian Standards, manufacturer’s recommendations and department procedures
• Ensure patient treatment areas are in compliance with relevant Australian Standards
• Ensure acceptance testing and commissioning of new/loan biomedical equipment are coordinated in a timely manner with asset details recorded within the biomedical equipment asset database
• Ensure safe removal of condemned biomedical equipment from service and update the biomedical equipment asset database accordingly
• Ensure the Biomedical Engineering asset database is maintained and updated regularly with the latest data
• Identify and prioritise PULSE work order for timely completion
• Facilitate the ordering of parts as required for timely completion of PULSE work order
• Provide timely solutions on Biomedical Engineering issues
• Establish strong relationships with internal WH staffs and external suppliers
• Collaborate with other Biomedical Engineering staff to resolve Biomedical Engineering problems and assist as necessary to complete repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Undertake other duties as required

Skills & Experience

• Eligible for Engineers Australia membership as Professional Engineer
• Committed to providing service delivery and with successful outcomes
• Demonstrated understanding of customer service for internal and external customers and is committed to effectively meeting their needs in a professional manner
• Demonstrated electronic systems problem solving ability
• Victorian Driver's Licence or equivalent
