Job description

Purpose of the role

To be an integral part of a team delivering technical services including repairs, planned maintenance and other technology support services to ensure the safety and effectiveness of electronic and/or mechanical health technology equipment and systems.

Your key responsibilities

You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Midmed values.

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Deliver routine technical services including installations, commissioning, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities in the relevant information systems.
  • Assist with the management of locally based resources including spare parts, manuals and test equipment.
  • Communicate and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff, equipment suppliers, service providers, team members and managers, to achieve service delivery objectives.
  • Apply established methods, policies and procedures with a commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
  • Be responsible for quality of work output, training and support of fellow team members, and supervision of small work groups.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge and experience in electronic and/or mechanical technologies, general engineering and other technologies associated with health technology equipment.
  • Ability to apply established methods and procedures in completing routine technical tasks (such as the installation, maintenance and development of health technology or similar equipment) as well as ability to complete more complex tasks under the guidance of more experienced practitioners.
  • Willingness to provide guidance and support to students and less experienced staff.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders/clients
  • Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
  • Honesty, integrity and respect for all staff, clients and other health care workers.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant should hold an Associate Diploma (generally graduating prior to the year 2000) or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) (Year 2000 onwards), tertiary, or equivalent formal qualification(s) in the field of Engineering.
  • Hold the licences, certifications and accreditations required to carry out activities within the relevant discipline areas, or willingness and ability to make significant progress towards obtaining such during the first 6 months of employment. For example: Restricted Electrical Work Licence.
  • A “C” class driver’s licence is required, and you will be required to drive Midmed vehicles as part of general duties.
  • Travel, Shift Rostering and On-call requirements: Midmed is committed to providing appropriate services at all times, consequently staff may (following consultation) be required to transfer to another work location, participate in 24-hour shift arrangements, on-call and weekend rosters, occasional overtime, and to travel throughout Queensland for periods of up to approximately two weeks at a time.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment. measles, mumps, rubella (MMR),varicella (chicken pox),pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, tuberculosis
