Located centrally in Woolloomooloo's Garden Island, on Gadigal land you will complete a 3-year traineeship program undertaking Certificate III in Surface Coat Preparation. You will have the chance to learn the technicalities of your trade at school and then apply this to a supportive environment whilst you learn on the job. We can provide the challenges and opportunities, all you need to do is bring a willingness to learn!
Your Team
Our Above Water Systems team designs and engineers commercial and naval ships - as well as providing in-service support capabilities. Working in our Preservation department you will gain exposure to marine vessels, workshop blasting & coating application
During this traineeship you will gain experience in:
Assisting the application of liquid protective surface coatings to Naval and Commercial Vessels
Assisting the team to carry out abrasive blasting
Airless, gravity feed, conventional spraying applications
Taking coating measurements, from coating thickness, surface profile, temperature readings
Knowledge in mixing & applying single, double, and three pack coating applications
