PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Board/Field Operator operates under the discretion and authority of the Commissioning Manager, primary functions will include executing cause and effect testing according to procedure, communicating to technician teams and providing accurate reporting to Commissioning Manager and Client
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB: Under general supervision, to operate, monitor and control hydrocarbon processes and utilities equipment in a safe and efficient manner as directed, within Project and statutory regulations to achieve desired project targets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Be responsible for understanding and executing Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all phases of the project. Personal safety awareness and team safety awareness are necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Continually monitor the status of all process and utilities equipment identifying process malfunctions and speedily reporting them.
- Operate as instructed designated process and utilities equipment, within the allocated area.
- Carry out adjustments to plant and equipment to maximize efficiency and on stream reliability
- Liaise with maintenance on the shutdown, isolation and restart of plant being maintained to ensure non-availability of equipment is kept to a minimum period.
- Perform duties of Area Authority for areas of the facility as designated in project orders. Be responsible for the isolation and de-isolation of any plant and equipment to render it safe for PTW purposes.
- Ensure that all work being performed within designated area is carried out in compliance with Permit to Work.
- Maintain accurate records for a plant and equipment as specified.
- Conduct handover with oncoming shift to ensure continuous safe operation of facilities
- Ensure that relevant production project Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets are met
- Participate fully in emergency response teams to ensure a continued ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
- Liaise with the relevant Production Team Leader in identifying and recommending changes or improvements to further optimize production and operations.
- Co-ordination of fluid sampling on the hydrocarbon process plant and utility systems, and analysis in the laboratory by the Laboratory Technician
- Participation in risk assessments when appropriate.
- Coordinate activities with other departments and staff.
- Establish positive working relationships with immediate supervision and personnel from other departments.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written. Be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Other duties as may be assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Knowledge of:
- Extensive Control Room experience necessary.
- More than five (5) years of experience with Control Room operations in the oil and gas industry.
- Multi-skilled operator, with control panel experience. Able to perform general production operator functions.
- Testing safety and process control instrumentation, greasing/lubricating valves, bumping motors and pumps. PSV testing.
- T-2 Certification and involvement or experience with commissioning and start-up of plants or production facilities.
A combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Typically, three to five years of responsible experience in the in the offshore oil and gas industry with control room/production operator experience. Some college preferred, though not required.
