About the Role
We are currently recruiting Engineering Technician Mechanical (Boilermakers) for the Nelson Point Ore Car Repair Shop, within the WAIO Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance Team. Reporting to the NP OCRS Supervisors, the successful candidates will hold safety in the utmost regard, be highly motivated and proactive, have strong communication skills, and proven ability applicable to the position. These roles can be FIFO from Perth or Residential in Port Hedland.
Responsibilities will include:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety and environment, and sustainable development
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
- Assisting in all applicable areas of the NP OCRS, including ore car structural repairs and maintenance, removing componentry from end-of-life ore cars in preparation for disposal, servicing and overhauling ore car bogies, and other ad hoc welding work as required
- Adherence to welding quality standards
- Ability to prioritise work, manage time effectively and liaise with internal and external work groups where required
- Completion of all required documentation, data entry and reports in the relevant BHP system
- Participation in continuous improvement projects and procedure development
About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- Boilermaker/Heavy Engineering trade certification (essential)
- Forklift, Dogging and/or Rigging tickets (highly desirable)
- Coded welding experience (desirable)
- Experience working in mining or oil and gas environments (desirable)
- Good IT literacy skills, with experience in using 1SAP / Fiori, Loc8, and the Microsoft Office suite (desirable)
- Previous experience working within Rolling Stock Maintenance (desirable)
- Highly motivated and proactive approach to problem solving
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
