JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is critical in facilitating the delivery of high quality products in line with business and customer needs. With targets set for safety, quality, cost, reliability and efficiency, you’ll lead your team by using lean manufacturing tools, striving for best practice and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Production Manager, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinating and monitoring Boning Room activities to ensure production plan is met – including overseeing staff schedule and ensuring staff are trained and assessed for the work being performed
• Leading production staff to ensure the highest possible yields are recovered and all KPI’s associated with the Boning Room output are met
• Act as an advocate and champion a positive WHS culture
• Work in conjunction with the Production Manager and QA team to ensure compliance with all quality assurance practices
• Ensure GMP standards are maintained and area of control is fully compliant with HACCP
• Enforce and participate in all areas related to HR – including policy compliance and performance management
• Assist in implementing process improvement plans to increase productivity and efficiency in the team.
• Carry out hands-on boning activities when required
• Other duties as delegated by the Production Manager and head of site.

JOB CRITERIA

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Demonstrated leadership in a similar role within a processing environment;
• Evidence of supervising or managing a primary processing Boning Room with export specifications;
• The ability to train and mentor multicultural teams;
• Understanding and previous experience with production processes and flows;
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles;
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
• Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building capabilities;
• Knowledge of Safety and WHS regulations;
• Knowledge in HACCP, GMP & QA procedures;
• Ability to maintain DAFF and AUS-MEAT requirements
• Excellent problem solving and process improvement skills
• Have an aptitude for maintaining Boning Room machinery
