Geelong Leather, situated in Culcairn NSW produces wetblue leather and currently requires 8 Bovine Hide Production Line Operators for a short-term casual contract of 3 weeks in Laverton, VIC starting 2nd of September to 21st of September 2024.The operator will report to the onsite Supervisor and will be responsible for the following:
- Manually sorting and preparing hides for chain attachment.
- Removal of hide tallow (heads, brisket, hocks and tails) via safe knife handling.
- Manually packing of hides onto pallets.
- Housekeeping duties.
- A strong safety attitude.
- Travel to Laverton and reside in Point Cook, VIC for the duration of the job.
- Work Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2.30 pm with some possible overtime.
- Be physically capable of manual labouring tasks.
- Gain experience in safe knife handling techniques.
- Complete a pre-employment functional assessment to verify fitness for job duties.
- Undergo and pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Must be vaccinated for Q-Fever.
We're providing a casual fixed-term position at the current Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award rate of $29.04 per hour, along with a meal allowance of $50.43 per day. Please note that the casual rate does not include annual leave, sick leave, or long service leave, but superannuation will be deposited into your nominated account.
Geelong Leather covers travel expenses from Culcairn/Albury/Wodonga to Laverton/Point Cook and provides accommodation at Point Cook.
