About the role
We are seeking a Branch Manager with excellent people skills who enjoys selling solutions and is able to coach, lead and mentor the team to drive these solutions and add value to the customer base. You will need to be passionate about the role, inclusive with staff, aggressive with sales targets, lead, drive and set expectations of the team for benchmark customer service, smart with sales strategies and uphold our values.
As Branch Manager you will be responsible for:
- Alignment –Ensure all branch operations are aligned with ATOM’s policies and procedures. The culture of the branch, as exhibited by those within, are aligned with ATOM’s values and are focused around a positive customer experience. The ATOM brand is represented in the region in a manner consistent with ATOM’s values. The branch’s performance is aligned with the performance measures ATOM is driving.
- Leadership – Provide general supervision, management and leadership to all branch staff, including feedback, training and support. Mentor and coach staff on performance. Create a branch culture where everyone understands and behave according to ATOM’s values.
- Operational Management – Ensure the branch is profitable and generating returns on ATOM’s investment in capital, including inventory. Contribute to the annual budgeting process. Minimise costs and eliminate dead or slow-moving inventory. Manage the daily operations of the branch with a focus on safety.
- Business Development – Working with ATOM’s senior sales leadership team, target high potential businesses in the region. Help facilitate pitches/negotiations with national targets with an exposure to the branch. Maintain ATOM’s high standards to the customer service experience. Initiate and drive business development activities within the region to help promote ATOM’s brand and general market awareness. Actively re-negotiate any contracts relevant to customers of the branch. Maintain regular direct contact with a range of varying customers.
You will need to demonstrate and have experience in:
- Technical Competencies – Strong analytical and tactical thinking skills. Demonstrated skills in planning, coordinating and managing work flow to ensure business operations are efficient. High-level problem-solving skills, including engagement with all stakeholders to find a creative solution. Proficient with technology and unafraid to learn new systems and solutions.
- Personal Competencies – Proven leadership skills, with the ability to coach, develop and mentor staff. Proven inter-personal and communication skills and a strong cultural awareness pointing to a high emotional intelligence. An ability to be flexible, to adapt to changing deadlines and business demands. An ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive situations. To be confidential when appropriate, especially when dealing with sensitive commercial, business and staff issues. Ability to work as part of a team rather than as the “boss” of a team.
- Knowledge – Working knowledge of industrial and safety products. Working knowledge of the needs of the construction, oil & gas and heavy engineering industries, working knowledge of branch operations including purchasing/expediting, warehousing and logistics.
- Experience – Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a similar sized organization, including at least 3-5 years in a management position.
