About the role
The position of Branch Manager is responsible for all aspects of safety, operational and financial performance, resourcing and team leadership for specified operational areas and/or operational processes.
This includes overseeing all activities and resources associated with the branch to achieve agreed objectives, optimising profitability, and business efficiency with a strong customer focus, in a safe and socially acceptable manner.
Critical to this role is to engage the overall team to plan and coordinate daily activities and hold team members to account. This position plays an important role in achieving daily KPI's and identifying / actioning process improvements, along with engaging support from other functional leads.
What you'll do
- Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved through complete and accurate documentation, professional handling of freight, achieving delivery times and meeting or exceeding service standards. Monitor labour planning/availability reports, RDO/Annual leave rosters and absenteeism statistics for all staff and take the necessary action to ensure sufficient staff are rostered on at all times.
- Ensure staffing levels are within budget, authority to employ extra and/or additional labour as required in line with company requirements.
- Ensure that all employees and contract carriers are fully inducted and trained in all aspects of their work to ensure that both the personal safety of the individual and others is protected, as well as the quality of services provided is maintained at a superior level.
- Evaluate and approve the forward-planning requirements. This includes both utilisation of company equipment as well as sub-contract services.
- Accountable for the achievement of agreed budgeted targets as measured by a series of branch KPI's.
- Maintain an up to date working knowledge of all legislative compliance requirements (inclusive of environmental) that impact the business.
- Take accountability for the safety of the team in the performance of work, taking a proactive and preventative approach to HSE issues affecting the site and/or the work area.
What you'll bring
- Ability to build strong functional relationships with functional reports, peers and senior management.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams with a focus on daily performance accountability and consequence management.
- Collaborative orientation, balancing the need for action with the need for buy in and engagement.
- Understanding of the Transport Industry and knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to role
- Strong analytical skills with focus on root cause analysis, problem solving and commitment to Continuous Improvement
- Strong customer service orientation and focus with ability to make correct, timely operational decisions affecting the operations of the site and customer service level agreements.
