About the role
RN-3 Provides nursing and/or midwifery care for patients who have been referred to the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Oncology Unit of Central Adelaide Local Health Network, in a variety of health service settings which has been consolidated by experience and/or further study with staff at this level developing from competent to proficient practitioners. Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
Employees in this role accept accountability for their nursing practice, the outcomes of nursing practices for the specific client patient/group, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy
RN-4 The Breast Care Nurse Practitioner (BCNP) provides advanced practice care for patients who have been referred to the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Oncology Unit of Central Adelaide Local Health Network. The service incorporates comprehensive expert clinical care including diagnostic assessment utilising radiological and pathological resources plus pharmaceutical interventions if necessary to assist in the delivery of this care. In addition, supportive counselling, provision of quality information, education, consultancy, research, management and mentoring will be provided. Patients may be seen pre diagnosis, pre operatively, post-operatively, and beyond as part of the scope of practice.
