These roles will see you step into specialist careers in the industry as a Building Surveyor or Principal Building Surveyor. With varied responsibilities across building surveying and construction, such as thorough assessment of development applications and carrying out critical stage inspections of building works, to the Principal Building Surveyor promoting Council as a Principal Certifier and providing mentoring and coaching of more junior employees, you will be enjoying busy but very rewarding days.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Assessing Development Applications with a high degree of accuracy to ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements
  • Researching analysing and interpreting relevant legislation, codes, policies, procedures and apply them in a practical context
  • Providing advice and technical information to Council's customers, staff and residents in relation to Building Surveying matters.

These roles have different salary ranges depending on qualifications and experience:

  • Building Surveyor - $82.9K to $99.5K per annum + leaseback vehicle 
  • Principal Building Surveyor - $96.3- $115.5K per annum + leaseback vehicle

A leaseback vehicle is provided in these roles for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $200 per week ($10,450 per annum) is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role with flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
